Cagnes-sur-Mer, Renoir's village and the seafront
Between Nice and Antibes, Cagnes is three towns: Haut-de-Cagnes, a medieval village under its Grimaldi castle, where painters settled in the 1920s; the domaine des Collettes, where Renoir spent his last twelve years among the olive trees; and Cros-de-Cagnes, the former fishing village turned resort, with its beach, its racecourse and its promenade. A quarter of an hour from the airport, it is the closest destination for a stay between village and sea.
